What Are the Important Industrial Food Processing Equipment Used by Companies

Industrial food processing equipment is essential for transforming raw agricultural
products into safe, usable food products. Across food processing companies, various
types of equipment are used for mixing, blending, washing, peeling, sorting, and
separation.

With the efficient use of this equipment, the modern food production business has

Common Industrial Food Processing Equipment

Blancher

Food companies use blanching machines to prepare fruits and vegetables. Steam
blanchers are used to partially cook and soften vegetables. This preserves the color,
flavor, and texture of the vegetables. The machine inactivates enzymes, thereby
increasing their shelf life.

Food processing companies use hot-water blanchers to treat produce in hot-water baths.

Washers

Abrasive Brush Peelers

These are used for skin removal purposes. They are commonly used on root vegetables
such as potatoes and beets. These machines use abrasive rollers or nylon brushes to
strip vegetable peels in large quantities.

De Stoner

Most of the time, raw vegetables contain grit, debris, and stones. With the help of the
De Stoner machine, which combines cyclones and a rotary valve, unwanted materials are
removed, and the vegetables are cleaned.

Rotary Sifter

This is cleaning equipment used to separate materials based on particle size. If finer
particles adhere to vegetables, cleaning them with a De Stoner is not always feasible.
Under such circumstances, the Rotary Sifter detects finer particles and, with the help of
a rotating mesh, separates them from the vegetables.

Elevators

These are bucket elevators that lift bulk materials vertically at various stages of the food
processing line. These elevators efficiently transport materials safely to different
components. The V-type conveyor is another elevator used in the processing line to
transport fruits and vegetables to slicing and dicing stations.

Size Reduction Machines

Size-reduction equipment, such as hammer mills and pulverisers, is used to grind and
crush solid materials into fine powder. A hammer mill is used to grind grains and spices
into uniform particles. These are high-impact machines that instantly reduce size and
improve process efficiency. A pulveriser is used to crush solid materials into fine powder.

Drying Equipment

Food processing companies use a range of drying equipment that removes moisture
from food materials, stabilizes the products, and prepares them for packaging. This helps
extend the shelf life of the products.
